dc.description.abstract"The anuran family Microhylidae is represented in Australia by five species: Cophixalus ornatus (Fry); C. neglectus, new species; Sphenophryne robusta (Fry); S. fryi, new name (substituted for Austrochaperina brevipes Fry); and S. gracilipes (Fry). Four of these species apparently are endemic to Australia; S. gracilipes is found also in the western part of the Territory of Papua, New Guinea. The microhylids appear to be confined in Australia to disjunct areas of rain forest along the eastern edge of Cape York Peninsula from Cape York to Townsville, Queensland. There are relatively few specimens of Australian microhylids in museums, and much remains to be learned of their geographic distribution and natural history"--P. 38.en_US
