dc.description.abstract"The lizards of the genus Cnemidophorus related to C. sacki occupying the region from southern Sonora to western Jalisco and Colima, Mexico, are studied with respect to variation and distribution. With the use of the relative size of the dorsal scales (expressed as the number of scales around midbody) as the most important character for distinguishing species, and the color pattern of large adult lizards as the most important intraspecific variable, it is possible to recognize three species and a total of nine forms (species and subspecies) within the area of study ... The forms recognized in this paper are listed ... with the nomenclature currently in use ... Cnemidophorus sacki barrancorum, new subspecies; Cnemidophorus sacki griseocephalus, new subspecies; Cnemidophorus sacki nigrigularis, new subspecies; Cnemidophorus sacki mazatlanensis, new subspecies; Cnemidophorus sacki huico, new subspecies; Cnemidophorus sacki occidentalis Gadow; Cnemidophorus scalaris ssp. [all correlate with] C. sacki communis Cope. Cnemidophorus communis communis Cope [=] C. sacki copei Gadow (fide Peters, 1954). Cnemidophorus communis mariarum Günther [=] C. sacki mariarum Günther"--P. 114.en_US
