Abstract
Adelastes hylonomos, new genus and species, is described from specimens collected on the Cerro de la Neblina Expedition of 1984-1985 at a site in lowland rain forest near the base of Cerro de la Neblina at the southern tip of Venezuela. Cladistic analysis of selected traits of morphology, reproduction, and vocalization suggests that Adelastes and four other genera - Arcovomer, Chiasmocleis, Hamptophryne, and Syncope - form a monophyletic group. A preliminary phylogenetic arrangement of these and other American microhylid genera is presented"--P. [1].
