Abstract

"The neotropical termite genus Neocapritermes is redescribed, and its evolutionary relationships are discussed. Five new species, Neocapritermes araguaia, N. guyana, N. talpoides, N. taracua, and N. utiariti, are described and illustrated. The imago of N. braziliensis is described for the first time. The previously known species, N. angusticeps, N. bodkini, N. braziliensis, N. centralis, N. longinotus, N. opacus, N. parvus, N. talpa, and N. villosus, are redescribed and illustrated. A map showing the distibution of each species and a key to the species, including all known imagoes and soldiers, are also included"--P. 128.
