Abstract
"The systematics and biology of the two shrews of the Sorex dispar group are described on the basis of a review of the literature and an examination of 247 museum specimens (224 Sorex dispar and 23 S. gaspensis). Sorex gaspensis is retained as a full species, and the species boundary between S.d. dispar and S.d. blitchi is shifted northward to the region of the Pennsylvania/Maryland/West Virginia borders. Information is also presented on the distribution, clinal variation, habitat preference, ecological niche, food habits, and reproduction of the two species"--P. [1].
