Abstract
"Descriptions are given of numerous new linyphiid genera and species from South America; these are listed alphabetically in the index. Of the known South American linyphiid genera, Dubiaranea (formerly Hormembolus) now has the greatest number of species, and considerable increases have also been made to the genera Laminacauda, Neomaso, Meioneta, and Sphecozone. In addition to a variety of small erigonine-like species, characterized by a simple tracheal system, a number of true erigonine species (with the complex tracheal system) are now found in South America. These erigonines fall into two groups which appear to be related to the Erigone and Ceratinopsis groups of genera. Most are endemic to South America, and none of the common, widespread linyphiid genera of the Northern Hemisphere seem to be present, except probably as recent arrivals. No representatives of the subfamily Mynogleninae have been discovered, and it is concluded that this subfamily is not present in South America.
