The following nomenclatural changes are made: Scaphinotus (Stenocantharus) angusticollis Mannerheim (1824), Scaphinotus (Stenocantharus) velutinus Ménétriés (1844), Scaphinotus (Pseudonomaretus) relictus Horn (1881), and Scaphinotus (Pseudonomaretus) regularis LeConte 91884) are considered to be valid species. Scaphinotus (Pemphus) longipes Casey (1897) is reduced to a junior synonym of Scaphinotus (Stenocantharus) velutinus Ménétriés (1844). The genitalia of both males and females of each species were studied.
