It proves the complex origin of the genus Ruscinomys, which is not a phylogenetic unit, but which consists of a number of parallel evolutionary lineages. Each lineage should be distinguished as a separate genus or subgenus. However, none of these lineages is as yet sufficiently known at the present time to permit the erection of new genera or subgenera.
