Lemur Fulvus mayottensis is unique to the island of Mayotte, one of the Congo group. It quite closely resembles L. fulvus, from which it is probably derived, but is characterized by an enormous variability in pelage coloration. Between January and May 1975, more than 500 hours of quantifiable (time-sampled) field observations were accumulated on this island subspecies.en_US
