Abstract: "A cladogram, key, diagnoses, descriptions, and maps are provided for the 18 known species of the North American spider genus Sergiolus. The synonymy of Sergiolus with the European genus Poecilochroa is disclaimed. Caridrassus magnus Bryant is transfered to Sergiolus. Fourteen specific names are newly synonymized: Poecilochroa inconspicua Bryant with Gnaphosa sericata (L. Koch); Sergiolus lesserti Schenkel with Herpyllus hesperolus Chamberlin; S. famulus Chamberlin and S. meretrix Chamberlin, both with S. minutus (Banks); S. clericus Chamberlin and S. tribolus Chamberlin, both with S. cyaneiventris Simon; S. bellior Chamberlin with S. bicolor Banks; P. abjecta Chamberlin and P. montanoides Schenkel, both with S. montanus (Emerton); and S. atomisticus Chamberlin, S. fruitanus Chamberlin, S. bebius Chamberlin, S. clarus Chamberlin, and P. pananus (Chamberlin), all with S. angustus (Banks).
