| Abstract: | "The minute freshwater herring Sierrathrissa leonensis Thys van den Audenaerde, 1969, first recorded from Sierra Leone, has sometimes been claimed as nothing more than the unmetamorphosed larva of species of Pellonula (or perhaps Cynothrissa). Fully mature specimens with ripe gonads at only 21-26 mm SL are described and the distinction from juvenile Pellonula clarified. General features of the species are given, as well as descriptions and illustrations of its visceral organs and most of the 900 bony or cartilaginous elements of its anatomy"--P. 2. |
